Now grounded in Berlin, the franco-german music producer, DJ & Live Act likes to blend worlds together. Either wandering through cosmic, spiritual, or other mental realms, mixed with sonic influences gathered from his travels around the world, Matthews always keeps faithful to one thing : trying to make people dance, while adding something meaningful out of their experience. A winning combination that’s seen him release music on imprints such as Eskimo Recordings, AEON, ROAM, Heimlich, as well as his own label HIFI/LOFI Records, while collaborating and getting remixed by the likes of Aera, Chaim, Local Suicide, The Organism…

His foray into music commenced with classical piano at an early age, followed by extensive guitar studies in his youth, and later delving into the depths of Jazz and Progressive Rock. Matthews fell in love with electronic music through bands such as LCD Soundystem and Soulwax in the mid 2000’s, which blended the energy of rock and the forward-thinking aesthetics of electronic music alltogether. It is during that time, that he founded the Indie Dance band ‘Parlez-Vous Anglais ?’ (which then became ‘Moon Wave’) during his years living in Paris. When he settled in his still current home in Berlin in 2013, he started being involved several other music projects, including the duo ‘Languages’, while composing music for advertising and films, perfecting his producing and mixing skills. In the meantime, the producer kept on honing his love for electronic music by giving a special attention to his now main artist alias Franz Matthews. In 2018, he made a strong first appearance on the electronic music map by bringing out a chart topping remix for Aisha Badru (now counting over 4.8 million plays on Spotify), and keeps on releasing appraised and cutting-edge electronic music since then, based on the pillars of a production work which always embodied a strong sense of ethos, commitment, and attention to detail.

As well at home behind the DJ decks, or live on stage where Matthews likes to combine electronic instruments while rocking his bass guitar and live singing, his heady and danceful magic brought him to play in most of Berlin’s iconic clubs (including Sisyphos, Kater Blau, Renate), in renowned festivals such as Chateau Perché, Reeperbahn Festival but also all around Europe, Mexico, the US, and far further away, obtaining just another confirmation of his prowess in engaging audiences, as well as for the sake of revelling in the energy that jubilant dancing energy emanates from his beats.
